10: Motorcycle Missionaries

For part of Fawz's mission (as we descendants call him), he rode a motorcycle.  He left a few pictures, most unmarked.

Motorcycle Missionaries:
Elders Herman J. Smith
& A. Kay Berry
In the rear are Mission Prest. Don Mack Dalton; Sr. Geneve J. Dalton, Prest. of Mission Relief Societies; Elder Vern D. Greene, Mission Secretary; Elder Ray William Ellsworth, Cape District President; Gerald Dalton & the domestic staff.

These photos are unmarked:
Probably Elders Kay Berry and Herman Smith

I'd like to know what these silly guys are doing.  One has long pants, one has short pants, and they are holding pants??

  1. I researching motorcycle missionaries for my blog on vintage motorcycles. Do you have any basic information on these pcitures (location, rough date)? Also, which denomination church funded the mission?

    Thanks!

  2. Here's more on this project: http://aroundtheworldcsb.blogspot.com/p/about.html. So, this was between 1929-1932 in South Africa. Missionaries pay for their own missions (out of pocket), but this was a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). I'd assume the church bought the motorcycles for the missionaries.
